Why Choose to Get a Male Rhinoplasty Treatment?

The male rhinoplasty, also known as nose surgery, is a cosmetic procedure that reshapes the male nose to be more balanced, symmetrical, and streamlined. Male patients find that rhinoplasty treatment is quite beneficial, as it can address nose size (too small or large), bridge imperfections, and even eliminate a bulbous nasal tip. If you are considering rhinoplasty treatment, this guide will provide you with all the information you need to make an informed decision.

Why Choose to Get a Male Rhinoplasty Treatment?

While this surgery is typically done to enhance facial appearance, it can also be done if there are structural nasal issues causing problems with breathing. With more individuals spending time behind cameras and computer screens, let’s take a look at how this treatment can benefit you:

    • An oversized or crooked bridge can be corrected.
    • Birth defects that impact the nose can be reduced.
    • Trauma from injuries or accidents can be repaired.
    • Improve breathing functions due to nasal passage issues.
    • Match the nose aesthetic to the rest of the face.
    • Fix upturned or downturned nasal tips.
    • Widen or narrow the bridge of the nose.

You are a good candidate for a rhinoplasty if you are in good general health, and have concerns about your nose’s appearance. You will need to go through a consultation with one of our surgeons, as this will allow us to examine your nose and discuss what you’d like to change about your nose.

How Does The Rhinoplasty Consultation Work?

When you book a consultation with us, one of our board certified doctors will meet with you to evaluate your nose and discuss the changes you’d like to see. We will take an account of your overall health, and ask for a list of medications that you are currently taking. If everything looks good, we will create a surgical plan that addresses the exact changes that need to happen for us to achieve the desired aesthetic you are looking for.

Before we book you in for the rhinoplasty, you will be given a detailed explanation of the procedure and what to expect during your recovery period. It is at this time that we will discuss realistic expectations, and the potential results the surgery should have for you.

    Prepping For Your Rhinoplasty Treatment

Before the surgery, you will be given instructions on how to prepare for your procedure. This may include avoiding certain medications to minimize bleeding during the operation. You should also arrange for someone else to take care of you after leaving our office, since driving yourself home is not permitted. We want everyone who comes into our practice to have the best possible experience, and that means providing you with all the information you need ahead of time.

Be sure not to eat or drink anything after midnight before your scheduled procedure day so that when we begin working on you, there will be no food particles left in your stomach that could cause complications during surgery such as vomiting while under anesthesia.

What Happens During a Rhinoplasty Surgery?

    Rhinoplasty surgery for men

The rhinoplasty treatment begins with a small incision, which is made on the inside of your nostril where it meets the skin next to your nasal bone (septum). From here on out, any further incisions are done either to the bone or cartilage as required to reshape the nose. A small amount of cartilage may be removed if one of your aesthetic goals is to have a smaller nose, while bone may be reshaped to create a more natural appearance.

After this, we will stitch up any remaining openings before applying a temporary splint over the area. The splint is to help the nose heal properly during your recovery time. The procedure takes about two hours and is performed under general anesthesia.

What Will My Recovery Look Like?

Most men report that their recovery from rhinoplasty surgery is relatively easy. You will likely experience some swelling and bruising around the nose. Usually bruising and the majority of swelling subsides within a few weeks. Modest swelling can last up to a year. The majority of men return to work after about 5-7 days of recovery but are instructed to avoid strenuous activities for at least six weeks.

You will be given specific instructions on keeping the nose clean and dry during your recovery period. Be sure to follow them closely to ensure a quick and uneventful recovery. If you are given nasal splints, these will be removed within 4 days at post-op. appointment.

    Wrapping It Up

If you are considering rhinoplasty surgery, it is important to have realistic expectations about what the results will look like. For you, the intended changes may be very noticeable, but not so much to others.

If you have any questions or concerns about rhinoplasty surgery, please do not hesitate to book a consultation with us. We would be happy to answer any of your questions and help you determine if this is the right surgery for you.
