    ENHANCE YOUR NATURAL LOOK

    A Semi-Permanent Makeup Technique

Microblading is a semi-permanent makeup technique performed by individuals whom obtain a tattoo license, that is used to create fine, natural-looking, individual hair strokes.  While similar to body tattooing, microblading uses a manual, hand-held, fine blade to implant or etch the pigment into the skin rather than using needles.  Microblading is a relatively new procedure, but it has quickly gained popularity due to its ability to create beautiful, natural-looking results.

What to Expect At Your First Appointment?

The procedure is relatively quick, clocking in at 1-2 hours in length, and there is minimal recovery time needed.  Here is what to expect at your first appointment.

    1. You will be asked to fill out a medical history form. This is to ensure that the esthetician is aware of any medical conditions or allergies that you have.
    2. Once the form is complete, the esthetician will ask you about the desired shape and color you would like for your eyebrows.
    3. The next step is to numb the area with a topical anesthetic. This is to ensure that you are comfortable during the procedure. Anesthetic injection available upon request.
    4. Once the topical anesthetic has kicked in, the work begins. The esthetician will use the fine blade to create hair-like strokes in your eyebrows. The blade is dipped in pigment, which is then implanted into the skin. The artist will continue this process until they have achieved the desired look.
    5. Finally, a healing ointment will be applied to your eyebrows, and you’ll be given instructions on how to care for them during the healing process.

Will I Need a Second Appointment & What About Touch-Ups?

After the initial appointment, you will need a second, follow-up appointment about 4-6 weeks after to complete the eyebrows. At about the 12-month mark, many individuals find that a touch-up appointment is needed to freshen up their eyebrows – by darkening them or reshaping them back to the original desired look.  Those who have oily skin, are out in the sun a lot or are active, may need the touch-up appointment sooner (around 8 months), and those who have dry skin or don’t go outside as much, may be able to go 1-2 years without a touch-up appointment.

    Is the Microblading Service Interactive?

microblading touch-ups being done on eyebrows

Yes! Your esthetician will provide you with a mirror that you can use during the entire appointment. We routinely stop for you to ask questions, and we run the microblading service in passes or phases so that you can see what it looks like after every pass. This means that as the microblading builds on itself, you can approve, disapprove, or ask for adjustments along the way.  As well as adjust shape and color at the touch up appointment if desired.

How Long Does Microblading Last For?

The lifespan of the results depends on a few factors, such as your skin type, lifestyle, medications and age. However, with proper care, most people get 12-18 months on average out of their microblading treatment.

    Is it Painful or Uncomfortable?

The topical anesthetic (numbing cream) given makes the experience more comfortable. If you feel anything at all, it will be akin to a mild-tingling sensation. The anesthetic injection, if requested helps to completely numb the brows for little to no pain.

    What Does Recovery Look Like?

After the procedure, your eyebrows will look darker and bolder than what your final result will be. This is because the pigment used during microblading contains iron oxide, which darkens as it oxidizes in the air. Your eyebrows will also look slightly swollen and red, which is normal and will subside within a few days.

You will be given aftercare instructions to follow, which include keeping your eyebrows clean and dry. This means no sweating or submerging your eyebrows in water, so make sure to get your workout and showering done beforehand. It is also important to avoid sun exposure and tanning during the healing process. You will be given a healing ointment to apply everyday until the eyebrows are completely healed.

Some individuals experience scabbing and flaking during the healing process. If this happens to you, do not pick at the scabs as this can potentially cause scarring. The scab will fall off on its own, revealing your beautiful, new eyebrows! Healing can take anywhere between 7 to 14 days depending on the individual.
