    BIOCOMPATIBLE INJECTABLE

    Minimize Fine Lines & Wrinkles

There are a lot of dermal filler treatments available on the market for patients looking to rejuvenate the look of their skin.

One such dermal filler is RADIESSE®, an injectable filler that minimizes fine lines and wrinkles, as well as adds volume and fullness to the face and hands.

It is a fantastic option for individuals who want to treat moderate to severe folds, smile lines, and sagging in the cheeks or skin.

It is made out of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA), which is biocompatible and found naturally in your skin and bones.

With this treatment, your body will absorb the gel and metabolize the biocompatible substance over time.

How Is Radiesse® Different From Other Dermal Fillers?

    • Juvederm® vs. RADIESSE®. Juvederm® and other hyaluronic acid-based fillers can restore volume and smooth out skin in areas like the lips and under the eyes. RADIESSE® works better for softening up deep folds in the nose and mouth region and is not recommended for under the eyes as it can leave a bluish hue (Tyndall effect) or lead to visible lumps due to how thick the filler is.  Beyond this, RADIESSE® cannot be dissolved like Juvederm® or Restylane® can.

    • Sculptra® vs. RADIESSE®. Sculptra® is made out of poly-L-lactic acid which can be injected more deeply into the skin into places that RADIESSE® cannot go and provide treatments like butt lifts, bicep/tricep sculpting, and cellulite reduction.  However, with Sculptra®, you would need multiple treatments, whereas, with RADIESSE®, only one is usually required.

    • Botox® vs. RADIESSE®. Botox® is a neuromodulator which blocks the nerves in the muscles that are present at the injection site, whereas, RADIESSE® is a dermal filler. Botox® will temporarily relax the muscle and keep it from moving to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, whereas, a dermal filler will restore volume to the area that has been lost with age.

    SIDE EFFECTS & COMPLICATIONS

What Risks Am I Taking on By Getting This Procedure?

Unlike hyaluronic acid-based fillers which can be dissolved, Radiesse cannot. This means that if you do not like your results or you have a complication, this can present major difficulties for you.

Side effects and complications will last as long as your filler does. RADIESSE® typically lasts for 12-24 months.

Unfortunately, RADIESSE® also has the highest rate of potential complications including cellulitis, necrosis, and submucosal nodules, so if you are getting it done, only use a highly-qualified professional that you trust and have vetted.

What Are the Possible Side Effects?

    Radiesse possible side effects

When having RADIESSE® injected into the hands, the most common occurring side effects are redness, bruising, pain, nodules, bumps, itching, swelling, loss of sensation, and difficulty performing certain activities due to motor control issues.

When RADIESSE® is injected into the face, the side effects are lessoned and may include bruising, swelling, redness, pain, and itchiness.

If not done by an experience professional, you may also have nodules or lumps form underneath the skin which can create a risk of infection or you may develop cellulitis which is a bacterial skin infection.

Typically, though, any major side effects only occur as a result of technical errors and there is little likelihood of adverse or delayed onset of side effect events.
