Also known as a reduction mammoplasty, our breast reduction surgery in Orlando helps women with large, pendulous breasts either achieve a smaller, more proportionate breast size or ease discomfort in the back, neck, and shoulders. For some women, getting breast reduction surgery will create a more aesthetically pleasing look and help lift functional limitations. The surgery will remove excess fat, skin, and glandular tissue from the breasts to make them smaller and firmer to the touch.
Call us NowOur Orlando breast reduction surgery is performed under general anesthesia and takes 2-3 hours. It involves making 3 incisions, one around your areola, one down from the areola to the breast crease, and a final one across the natural breast fold (or bra crease).
For women who are worried about scarring, a “lollipop incision” can be made which makes 1 incision around your areola and 1 vertical incision under the areola down to your natural fold.
Once the incisions are made, the excess fat, tissue, and skin are removed from above the nipple. The nipple and areola are shifted up to sit higher on the breast and any remaining skin above the nipple is pulled down to form smaller, firmer breasts.
Schedule ConsultationWhen you come in for a breast reduction consultation at our Orlando office, we will talk about your ideal look and size. We will go over your medical history and overall health, examine your breasts, take photographs, and provide a detailed description of the risks and benefits.
Contact Us NowImmediately after your breast reduction surgery in Orlando, we will cover your breasts with gauze dressings and cover them with either a surgical bra or elastic bandage to keep them in place.
If deemed necessary, we may place a drainage tube under each arm to remove excess fluid or blood. Pain medication and antibiotics may be required to reduce the possibility of infection. Your breasts will be extremely sensitive to touch, may be swollen, and you may experience bruising.
Physical activity must be limited for 2-4 weeks while your breasts heal, and avoiding underwire bras is recommended. Stitches will be removed after 1-2 weeks, and you will be given a support bra to wear for the duration of your recovery.
Gentle exercise can be resumed after 2-3 weeks. After 4-6 weeks, you will be able to resume heavy physical activity, like lifting weights, with your doctor’s permission. Follow-up appointments will be scheduled at eight weeks and at six months.
It is important to note that you may experience numbness or other sensations in your nipple and areola area for up to 12 months after your breast reduction surgery in Orlando. This is completely normal and will dissipate once all swelling has subsided.
