HOW DOES THE LIPOSUCTION PROCEDURE WORK?

While the techniques and technology used are dependent on the type of liposuction being done, the general idea is that your fat cell count is reduced by breaking apart your fat cells so that they can easily be suctioned out. Typically, a cannula is inserted and used to suction the fat layers (damage them). If any loose fat is left behind, it will be absorbed back into the body over a 6-12 week period.

There are four main types of liposuction we perform in Orlando.

WHAT DOES MY RECOVERY LOOK LIKE?

After your liposuction procedure in Orlando, expect there to be swelling and some bruising for several weeks.

You will be required to wear a compression garment for up to 6 weeks to help keep the swelling down and prevent infection.

During the first three weeks of your recovery, the compression garment must be worn day and night unless showering. In weeks 3-6, the compression garment may only need to be worn during the day, depending on how quickly your body has taken to healing.

You will not be able to return to work immediately and will need to take a break from household duties and physical exercise.
