The key ingredient of Sculptra® is Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA), a biocompatible synthetic material that stimulates collagen production through minimally invasive injections.

While Sculptra® is primarily used to diminish wrinkles, fine lines, and folds such as smile lines, chin wrinkles, and lines around the nose and mouth, it can be used for other treatment areas.

It may be used for buttocks augmentation, cellulite correction, or the treatment of elbow, chest, and knee wrinkles. It is not used directly on the eye area or your lips.
As with any treatment that requires the use of micro needles, there will be some noticeable side effects around the injection site. Please expect the following side effects.
It is also possible to develop minor skin discoloration and lumps underneath the skin. There is also the risk of infection and serious swelling. Sculptra® is not a good option for those who commonly get acne, rashes, skin sores, or cysts or have a history of keloids or hypertrophic scarring.
During your initial consultation with us, we will discuss your medical history to ensure that there is no danger of conflicting medical conditions or exciting any existing allergies. You will need to provide a detailed description of all prescription medications that you take as well as any herbal, dietary, or over-the-counter supplements.
Once you are given the all clear, you will come back for your session. If you wear makeup, this will need to be removed prior to coming in, if the treatment area is your face.
The treatment area will be cleansed with an antiseptic and a numbing cream or local anesthetic will be applied. You will receive small multiple injections and a light massage will be given to evenly distribute Sculptra.
An ice pack will then be applied to help reduce swelling and redness. You will be required to massage your face, several times a day, for about a week post-treatment.
Most individuals can return to usual daily activities immediately after treatment and makeup can be reapplied within a few hours after treatment if there are no open wounds.
One treatment of Sculptra® will range between $1,500 and $3,500, but the total price point depends on several factors.
While Sculptra® is not covered by health insurance, those who are living with HIV who have facial lipodystrophy syndrome may be covered for the procedure.
