MicroLaser Peel (MLP) in Orlando

GENTLE PEEL

THE “WEEKEND PEEL”

We all love to be out in the sun, but without the right sunscreen protection, you can end up with damaged skin from sun exposure and environmental damage from pollution particles in the air.

This, in turn, may lead to an earlier onset of age spots over the years, which can be frustrating to see in the mirror.

If you are seeking an all-around facial rejuvenation but don’t want to get a deep-layer laser skin resurfacing treatment, a MicroLaser Peel (MLP) in Orlando is your best option.

Dubbed the “weekend peel,” this laser treatment is stronger than a microdermabrasion procedure but way less aggressive than a full laser skin resurfacing treatment as it only removes a very thin layer of top skin. It is a gentle, laser-assisted skin peel that requires very little downtime for healing.

HOW DOES A MICRO PEEL LASER WORK?

Our Orlando Micro Laser Peel works by using the beam of an Erbium laser. This type of laser produces an energy wavelength that is absorbed by the water in your skin cells.

The beam only impacts the treatment area and will only cause a very thin layer of the superficial dermal to peel away. By removing this top layer of skin, any damaged cells that are reflecting sun damage, imperfections, and wrinkles will also be removed.

This will kick start your skin’s natural healing process, and fresh cells will begin to form to resurface the impacted area, resulting in smoother and healthier-looking skin.

The heat will cause damage to that specific area, forcing the body to get rid of the unwanted and damaged cells. Depending on what IPL machine or system is used, filters can be applied to refine the energy output to provide treatment to specific areas within the skin.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A MICRO PEEL LASER TREATMENT AND MICRODERMABRASION?

While the MicroPeel Laser is more akin to the same strength of a microdermabrasion treatment, it can be used to treat the deeper layers of your skin to achieve a more dramatic result. Beyond this, our MicroPeel Laser treatment in Orlando can be customized to fit the patient’s needs, depending on whether they want a light or more intensive approach. It is important to note that a MicroPeel Laser treatment will never be as strong as a deep layer laser treatment option. To put it simply,

Microdermabrasion treats wrinkles and scarring and is akin to “sanding” the skin down.
A chemical peel involves using acid to “peel” away the skin.

A Micro Laser Peel uses energy to “laser” away and resurface the skin by kickstarting your skin’s natural healing process. Results vary but generally provide patients with more even color tones, brighter skin, and better skin texture.

It treats mild wrinkles, superficial discoloration, scarring, sun damage (sunspots), liver spots, pigment irregularities, and keratosis.

You can obtain excellent results with just one treatment, but a personalized plan based on your specific needs may be required to address certain skin conditions that may require more than one treatment session.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AT MY APPOINTMENT?

We will clean the treatment area. If you are having the MicroLaser Peel (MLP) procedure done to your face, your eyes will be protected with safety goggles or a protective shield.

Our skilled Orlando physician will then position the laser handpiece above the treatment area and hold it in place while the computer-guided scanner lasers the area.

The procedure will last anywhere between 30-45 minutes.

SAFETY, RECOVERY, & POST-CARE TREATMENT

Having a MicroPeel Laser treatment done carries minimal risk to you and causes little to no pain, as most of our Orlando patients receive the procedure in the shallowest setting. In extremely light micro peel treatments, no anesthetic is required.

For more intensive treatment, a numbing cream is given.

In terms of recovery, there are about 3-4 days of downtime, as your skin will have some redness, mild swelling, and a frosty appearance during the peel cycle.

For post-care treatment, you will be provided with skincare products and instructions on how to use these, and will be recommended to sit out of direct sunlight.
