HOW DOES IT WORK?

Our Orlando SkinPen™ procedure works by making controlled micro-injuries or small pricks to your skin. These pin-pricks are so small that you won’t be able to see them after the procedure.

When these micro-injuries are created, your skin automatically begins its natural healing process via the production of healthy collagen. The upside of this is that this procedure encourages the skin to make new tissue, helping you come away with firmer skin in addition to the reduction of scarring or acne.

HOW MANY SESSIONS DO I NEED?

While every individual is different and may need more or fewer SkinPen™ microneedling sessions than others, depending on how significant your acne or scarring is, the majority of our Orlando patients receive a series of 3 procedures. These treatments are done four weeks apart from one another and only take about 30 minutes to complete. The procedures are done with a waiting period in between, as this allows your body to produce more collagen and elastin, giving you smoother and better results.

Is It Uncomfortable?

A topical anesthetic or numbing cream is given to make your experience pain-free. If you feel anything at all, it’ll be tingle-like in sensation.

THERE ARE 3 PHASES OF WOUND REPAIR

Microneedling with the SkinPen™ in Orlando works by inducing wound repair within your skin. There are 3 phases of wound repair that you will go through. Here is what to expect at each stage.

The first phase has inflammation. The piercing of the skin that occurs during a SkinPen™ treatment with us will trigger your immune system. Your immune system will try to disinfect the wounds to remove any debris from the pin-pricks so that infection does not occur. This will increase blood flow to the area to begin creating new tissue. This is why you will see redness, minor swelling, and puffiness around the treated areas.
The second phase is proliferation. This is when the wounds are rebuilt with new cells. As new cells form to fill in the wound and repair the area, a new network of blood vessels will also form. This is why our patients have increased blood flow to these areas after treatment.
The third phase is the remodeling of the skin. This is when the wound is replaced with new skin tissue and fully working blood vessels.

In giving you time to heal between treatments, we ensure that the overall structure of your skin stays intact and allows your skin to proliferate new cells and blood vessels.

WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR TREATMENT?

As long as you are over the age of 20, you can receive microneedling treatment at our office in Orlando. The SkinPen™ works on oily skin, sensitive skin, and normal skin, as well as all skin tones. You must be able to go without your regular skin care routine, including the use of skin care products, and avoid taking any NSAIDs for the first two weeks after treatment.

Other than this, you must avoid working out or sweating heavily during the first 72 hours after treatment. If you are pregnant, have open wounds, or have recent radiation therapy, you may not be a good candidate for our treatment due to potential side effects like infection, peeling, bruising, and bleeding.
